At the beginning of March, when it was already feeling uncharacteristically spring-like this year, we planted an open space near the train station in cooperation with the Michendorf Tree Protection Department. We were actively supported by a local kindergarten. They enthusiastically helped us to dig in the trees and shrubs, water them and mulch them with leaves at the end. Some of them were interested to know which tree or shrub they had just planted from the 20 different species we had brought along. There were, among others: Pedunculate oak/Quercus robur, Sessile oak/Quercus patraea, European beech/Fagus sylvatica, European lime/Tilia cordata, European ash/Sorbus aucaparia, Field maple/Acer campestre, Norway maple/Acer platanoides, elm/Ulmus laevis, elder/Sambuca nigra, blackthorn/ Prunus spinosa, hawthorn/Crataegus, bird cherry/Prunus avium and European coneflower/Euonymus europaeus. We would like to thank all the helping hands. The children and accompanying teachers, the forester, the people from the building yard and the WoodsUp volunteers. May a little patch of biodiversity grow in this place!
